Summary
ECOLECON is a ECOLO-gical ECON-omic model developed to simulate animal population dynamics and economic revenues in response to different forest landscape structures and timber management scenarios. The model can generate artificial forest landscapes or can link with Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to run simulations on real landscapes.ECOLECON is interactive and is a useful tool for both research and education. The paper detailed here outlines the methods of model development, presents the model structure and demonstrates a sample simulation using the model.
